A group of hospital employees participated in live simulation training with HAL – HVCH’s high-fidelity simulation mannequin. The mannequin has the ability to be programed to run certain health-related scenarios and respond to interventions.
The scenario was about a college student who came into the ER after days of not sleeping and extreme amounts of caffeinated beverages. The patient was unstable and was found to be in SVT (supraventricular tachycardia.) The team tried chemical and electrical cardioversion to treat the abnormal heart rhythm. The patient ended up going into cardiac arrest and a code blue was called. With teamwork and ACLS protocol, the patient survived.
Participants in this training included:
Josie Cottrill – Float nurse
Angela Schetter – ER charge nurse
Curtis Golden – Director of ER & UC
Darcy Culbertson – ER nurse
Ashley Leasure – ER nurse
Austin Walton – Respiratory therapist
Dr. John Ireton – Hospitalist
Teresa Downs – Nursing Supervisor
Nick Kost – Informatics Nurse Educator
Madi Wilson – Clinical Educator
