Specialty Clinic

Hocking Valley Community Hospital’s Specialty Clinic sees patients for both pain management and wound care services. You must schedule with a Specialty Clinic physician to be seen for both services. Call (740) 380-8171 for more information.

Pain Management

The Pain management program works personally with each patient to develop a plan of care to manage and live with chronic pain. The goal of the treatment plan is to treat the patient’s pain, decrease the patient’s pain medication and increase their quality of life.

Wound Care

Hocking Valley Community Hospital’s wound care program provides wound care by a trained Registered Nurse under the direction of a staff physician.

Upon evaluating the wound and reviewing the information provided by the patient and physician, a comprehensive care plan is developed to meet the patient’s special needs. Depending on the nature of the wound, any number of treatment options is available.

  • Debridement – removes the dead tissue
  • Dressing – protect the wound area and promote growth of healthy tissue
  • Compression devices and garments- Ted hose, stockings and wound vac.

Nutrition

Because proper nutrition is critical in the treatment of many wounds, our dietary department can assist those individuals for whom improper nutrition plays a role in the development of a wound.

Education/Prevention

As part of the treatment program, all patients are educated about the healing process. When a patient feels comfortable with the steps necessary to help in healing the current wound they understand how to prevent further problems.
