National Rural Health Day

Hocking Valley Community Hospital is celebrating the essential role of rural healthcare in our community in recognition of National Rural Health Day.

National Rural Health Day, observed annually on the third Thursday of November, highlights the unique healthcare challenges and innovative solutions found in rural communities across the country. More than 57 million Americans live in rural areas. HVCH is one of Ohio’s 22 rural hospitals, and 28 critical access hospitals based on CMS rural/CAH designation.

“The impact of rural hospitals to our communities by providing access to care, establishing community-based programming and creating jobs continues to have a tremendous impact for the more than 2.1 million Ohioans living in rural Ohio,” HVCH CEO Stacey Gabriel said. “As a critical access hospital, we provide vital services to our Hocking Hills region. From delivering quality emergency care to offering specialized services closer to home, we ensure our neighbors have access to healthcare when and where they need it most.”

HVCH celebrated staff and community all this week including a Camp Out lunch, pancake breakfast, health care career day at Logan High School, healthcare awards to staff, and a pizza luncheon.

“We are proud to be part of a community that values and supports rural healthcare,” Gabriel said. “National Rural Health Day is an opportunity to honor the dedication of our staff, the trust of our patients, and the partnerships that help us thrive. Together, we continue to make a positive impact on the health and well-being of our rural neighbors.”
