What is a Rural Health Clinic?
The Rural Health Clinic (RHC) is a federal program intended to increase access to primary care services for patients in rural communities. To maintain the RHC status, our clinic must undergo an extensive on-site survey through an Accrediting Organization designated by Centers for Medicare Services. During this survey, the clinic must prove compliance with policies, quality improvement, and patient safety requirements. All RHCs must provide outpatient primary care services, offer basic laboratory testing, and be equipped to provide first response services to common life-threatening injuries and acute illness.
As a certified RHC, HVCH follows a team-based approach that involves physicians collaborating with non-physician providers, including nurse practitioners, to ensure exceptional healthcare services for our patients.
